Full Stack Software Developer
THE ROLE
Join a checkout and payments squad as a Full Stack Developer. Work closely with a product manager, a designer, and four other engineers. Own features from design discussion through production monitoring, with attention to making checkout fast and trustworthy.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design, build, and maintain features across the React (Next.js) front end and Node.js/TypeScript microservices.
- Write clean, tested code, maintain unit and integration test coverage, and participate in daily code reviews.
- Collaborate with product and design to refine requirements, estimate work, and break epics into deliverable increments.
- Integrate payment, tax, and fraud services using Stripe, Avalara, and Signifyd, and handle their failure modes gracefully.
- Instrument features with logging, metrics, and tracing, and participate in the squad's weekday business-hours on-call rotation.
- Contribute to the shared component library and internal API standards.
- Help migrate remaining checkout functionality off the legacy PHP monolith.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Required
- 3–5 years of professional software development experience, with substantial front-end and back-end work.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
- Experience with relational databases, including efficient queries and schema design.
- Familiarity with REST API design, authentication patterns, and HTTP fundamentals.
- Comfort working in an agile team with CI/CD, feature flags, and frequent production deployments.
- Ability to work on-site in Austin two days per week.
Nice to have
- PostgreSQL experience.
- E-commerce, payments, or other high-traffic consumer-facing experience.
- Experience with Next.js, GraphQL, or event-driven architectures such as Kafka or SQS.
- Exposure to AWS (ECS/Fargate, Lambda, RDS) and Docker.
- Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and web performance optimization.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base range: $110,000 – $140,000 base per year
Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and location.
