Network Engineer

THE ROLE

Design, implement, and support enterprise and operational-technology networks. Much of the environment is physically secured and subject to NERC CIP requirements. Work on a team of four network professionals and partner closely with OT/SCADA and cybersecurity teams.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, including Cisco Catalyst switching, OSPF/BGP routing, and SD-WAN across headquarters, service centers, and substations.
• Administer Palo Alto firewalls, VPN, and segmentation between corporate IT and OT/SCADA networks in accordance with NERC CIP standards.
• Maintain and monitor MPLS, microwave, and fiber circuits; coordinate provisioning and outages with carriers.
• Manage Cisco/Meraki wireless coverage across facilities and support field-crew connectivity.
• Implement network monitoring and automation using SolarWinds, Python, and Ansible; maintain network documentation and diagrams.
• Lead network change requests through change management, including risk assessments and back-out plans.
• Support compliance evidence collection for NERC CIP audits.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required

• 5–8 years of enterprise network engineering experience.
• Expert-level Cisco routing and switching skills, with strong understanding of OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP, and QoS.
• Hands-on experience administering next-generation firewalls; Palo Alto is preferred.
• Experience with WAN technologies: MPLS, SD-WAN, and point-to-point wireless or fiber.
• Ability to obtain and maintain NERC CIP personnel-risk-assessment clearance and work on-site in Corpus Christi.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to substations and service centers within the service territory.

Nice to have

• CCNP Enterprise or equivalent; PCNSE.
• Experience in a utility, industrial, or other OT/ICS environment; familiarity with NERC CIP, IEC 61850, or DNP3.
• Network automation experience with Python, Ansible, or Netmiko.
• Experience with Cisco ISE and 802.1X.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base range: $110,000 – $135,000 base per year

Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and location.

HOW WE WORK

• Report to the Manager, Network & Telecommunications.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, one week in four, and support storm-restoration operations as needed.
