Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Azure)

THE ROLE

Serve as a technical lead on the Azure platform team. Set infrastructure standards that application teams build against and influence architecture across teams. Represent infrastructure in change advisory and risk reviews. This role does not include people management.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, implement, and maintain Azure landing zones, hub-and-spoke networking, private endpoints, and ExpressRoute connectivity.
• Author and maintain Azure Policy and Bicep/Terraform modules to enforce security, tagging, and cost standards across all subscriptions.
• Lead resilience engineering: define RTO/RPO targets with business owners, implement multi-region failover patterns, and run disaster-recovery exercises.
• Serve as the senior escalation point for infrastructure incidents, lead blameless post-incident reviews, and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Partner with security to implement Defender for Cloud, Sentinel integrations, and Entra ID controls, including conditional access, PIM, and managed identities.
• Review application architectures for cloud fit, cost, and operability before production.
• Drive FinOps practices through reservations, savings plans, right-sizing, and chargeback reporting.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through design reviews and paired work.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required

• 6+ years in infrastructure engineering, including at least 4 years focused on Microsoft Azure in production.
• Deep Azure networking expertise: VNets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, Private Link, DNS, and ExpressRoute/VPN.
• Proven infrastructure-as-code experience at scale using Bicep or Terraform, plus CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Strong understanding of identity and access management in Entra ID and Azure RBAC.
• Experience leading incident response and post-incident reviews for business-critical systems.
• Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including risk and compliance staff.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or DevOps Engineer Expert.
• Experience in insurance, banking, or another regulated financial-services environment involving SOC 2, NAIC, or state insurance regulator audits.
• Familiarity with Azure Kubernetes Service and container platform operations.
• Working knowledge of PowerShell and Python for automation.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base range: $150,000 – $185,000 base per year

Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and location.

Bonus / commission: Annual bonus with a 12% target tied to company and individual performance.
